Jim and I are off to Walt Disney World and Naples, FL to celebrate our tenth anniversary and a good start to a new rectorate for Dirk at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ewing, NJ. I haven't been since my birthday and New Year's in '87/88 and Jim has never been. (But his parents took Disney vacations without him - if that's not abuse, I don't know what is. Actually, he was too "cool" to go to an amusement park with the folks.)
On the way, we discover that the AC went out on us somewhere South of DC. Now, we haven't seen sun or temperatures barely over 70 at home, so how would we have noticed? But. this is not a good beginning - and who wants to spend three weeks in Florida without AC? Thank heaven for cell phones and a Toyota dealership in Rocky Mount NC (and a good warranty). With only an hour's delay, we're on our way with working AC.
We stop at a Days Inn in Saint George, SC. Skip it next time. Bugs, bathmat the size of a handkerchief, and poor AC. (Is this a theme?) But after a good rest, we move on.Next stop - Jim's Hometown, Fitzgerald, GA.
